Research

I hold a PhD in zoology from the University of Cambridge. I conducted this research under the supervision of Professor Edgar Turner, and it was funded by the Natural Environment Research Council.

My research focused on primary school grounds in the UK.

I investigated:

  • How much green space is there in UK primary schools?

  • What biodiversity exists in these spaces?

  • How does the biodiversity found in these spaces affect children’s relationship with nature?

  • How does this green space affect children’s wellbeing?

  • How much bias towards certain animal or plant groups exists in nature documentaries?

My thesis can be found at the following link:

The potential of green space in schools to enhance biodiversity, ecological knowledge and student wellbeing
